I enjoyed reading some of your culinary bloggings. Yes, satay is quite a time-consuming meal. The wonderful thing about living in Asia, though, is that satay sauce can be pre-bought in a jar. Makes things much quicker when time is not on my side.

Now, I don't actually know much about satay's history. However, here in HK, you can find satay at all Thai restaurants and many Vietnamese restaurants as well. I wonder if they stole this glorious food from the Indonesians or if they also eat said fabulous skewers? Or maybe it's like curry: different kinds from different countries. When Tom & Jill were here, they weren't aware that there were different kinds of curries - Indian, Thai, Japanese, etc. YUM.

Oh, and p.s. You & I should start a restaurant/piano bar/used bookstore. We'd rock.

Thai and Indonesian food are very similar, probably because they have similar climates, etc. I haven't had Thai satay, but I'm guessing they're pretty similar. I've also never had the pre-made satay, although I see it in stores here.
